Get to know IT Analyst Tyrell Powell.
What did you want to be growing up?
Growing up I really wanted to develop apps and create the next big social media platform. I was inspired by the new way of communicating and people expressing themselves online.
What was your first job?
My first job was as a painter at the age of 16. During summer vacations, I painted and cleaned houses.
What did you study in college?
I studied Information Science & Technology (IST). My interest in computers and technology, combined with my problem-solving skills, led me to pursue this field.
How did you end up at DVRPC?
I joined DVRPC because of the growth opportunities it offered. The agency is committed to uplifting its employees, and I wanted to apply my skills and knowledge to take on new responsibilities.
What are your responsibilities?
I support over 120 employees with initial technical support, accurately log issues and resolutions, and manage the administration and internal support of the agency’s workstations, printers, videoconferencing, peripherals, and related equipment.
What is your favorite part of working at DVRPC?
I enjoy interacting with my co-workers. Providing IT support to everyone in the agency and seeing their satisfaction when issues are resolved is very rewarding.
What 3 words best describe you?
Curious, stoic, and friendly. These words best capture my personality.
What is the last book you read?
The last book I read was The Alchemist. It was an interesting read recommended by several people, and I would suggest it to others as well.
Are you a cat or dog person?
I like both. I grew up with both cats and dogs in the house.
