Join us on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 10:00 am, for the Healthy Communities Task Force (HCTF) meeting on “Indoor Air Quality: Housing Quality and Health.” This is the first of a three-part webinar series on indoor air quality and health. This first webinar will focus on residential aid quality, exploring how our homes–from building materials to maintenance and pests–affect indoor air quality and health.

In this meeting, Tyra Bryant-Stephens, MD, Medical Director of the Community Asthma Prevention Program (CAPP) and Chief Health Equity Officer of the Center for Health Equity at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), will present her work to support children with asthma in Philadelphia and beyond. She'll discuss the services that CAPP community health workers provide to local families to mitigate asthma triggers in the home environment, with the goal of improving asthma-related outcomes in children.

Brandon Alcorn, Director of Operations with Rebuilding Together Philadelphia, will also join to discuss the CAPP+ Home Repairs Program, a partnership between CHOP and Rebuilding Together Philadelphia that works with the families of children in West and Southwest Philadelphia who are experiencing asthma to provide structural home repairs that will eliminate root causes of asthma triggers, including roof repairs, wall repairs, plumbing repairs, and pest extrusion procedures.

Additionally, Jo Miller, Program Analyst with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes, will present on HUD’s Healthy Homes Initiative (HHI), which seeks to protect children and their families from housing-related health and safety hazards. She’ll discuss how HHI funds have been used in our region and how other federal funds can be used to improve our housing stock and public health.

This event has been approved for 1 AICP CM credit. Register to attend.
