D2214 | Floodgate Road, Bridge over Repaupo Creek (Bridge 3-D-1) (Gloucester County)
This Local Concept Development study from the DVRPC FY2023 UPWP aims to identify and select a preliminary preferred alternative that will improve the Floodgate Road Bridge over Repaupo Creek and remove any substantial deficiencies including any functional obsolete rating. The bridge is the only means of access to the Delaware River levee system, floodgates and storm water pumping station which protect the Gibbstown section of Greenwich Township. The current weight restriction on the bridge limits the ability to utilize heavy machinery and delivery of materials to this vital protection system for a large portion of Greenwich Township and is needed for emergency management measures. Additionally, there is a park and a small community on the one side of the bridge without alternative access that relies on the bridge. The small community of under a dozen homes has no sewer service and requires septic pumping on a regular basis; however, the current weight restriction limits the ability to utilize standard septic disposal trucks, as well as standard heating oil delivery trucks to service this community. The bridge sufficiency rating is 40.6.
