This publication outlines a plan for municipal action to preserve farmland and the agricultural industry in Elk Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey. It delineates Agricultural Project Areas within the township and lists individual farm properties for priority preservation. It meets the requirements for such plans of the NJ State Agriculture Development Committee and supports application to the state for a Farmland Planning Incentive Grant for Elk Township. Information on Elk Township'sagricultural land base, its soils, crops, the region's agricultural status, township planning, farmland preservation options, delineation of natural resource conservation programs for farmers, and ideas to support local farmers and strengthen the local agricultural industry are provided through text, tables, and maps.
