These one-day, introductory workshops, available on Tuesday, June 4, and Wednesday, June 5, from 10 am - 6 pm at DVRPC, will provide attendees with the training necessary to begin to implement effective Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) strategies in their communities.
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is a comprehensive place-based approach to crime prevention that utilizes design and space management to promote and maintain community safety. Going beyond changes to the physical environment, CPTED also focuses on community building to develop relationships and social efficacy.
DVRPC, with support from University City District, will host two interactive workshops facilitated by Charles Brown, Founder and CEO of Equitable Cities, on the “Intersection of Complete Streets and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design.” These one-day, introductory workshops, available on Tuesday, June 4, and Wednesday, June 5, from 10 am - 6 pm at DVRPC, will provide attendees with the training necessary to begin to implement effective CPTED strategies in their communities. There will also be an optional night session on June 5. Attendees should register for only one daytime workshop as each day’s workshop will share the same information and format, while the night session will provide additional guidance and fieldwork.
This meeting has been approved for 6.25 AICP CM credits with an additional 1.5 CM credits for the night session. The cost to participate is $40. Learn more about the workshop and register.
