Job Description
DVRPC is seeking a motivated intern to serve in a shared role between the Office of Transportation, Bicycle, and Pedestrian Planning (OTBP) and the Office of TDM Strategy and Marketing (OTSM). This part-time internship offers hands-on experience with multimodal transportation planning, program research, and marketing/outreach initiatives in the Greater Philadelphia region.
Responsibilities
Office of Transportation, Bicycle, and Pedestrian Planning (OTBP):
15 hours/week (2 days)
- Actively participate in project meetings and plan development.
- Conduct research, analysis, and written summaries for meetings and reports.
- Develop maps, graphics, and illustrations for presentations and reports.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and work independently under supervision.
- Support projects such as:
- Bus stop access and infrastructure improvements
- Glassboro-Camden Line Multimodal Station Access study
- Special topics event series, including lifecycle cost analysis of temporary materials and open streets events
Office of Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Strategy and Marketing (OTSM):
7.5 hours/week (1 day)
- Assist with the planned rebranding of DVRPC’s Share-A-Ride (SAR) ridematch program, including:
- Input on new program name and logo
- Conducting surveys of current SAR registrants and regular users
- Developing new materials after rebranding
- Coordinating with software vendors
- Working with Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) to address their needs for SAR
- Further analysis of SAR research conducted by EaseConsult.
- Support TripSmart PA plans and outreach for America250 and other 2026 events.
- Assist with review of peer ridematch and service programs, such as Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission’s CommuteInfo program.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in transportation planning, alternative travel modes, and community engagement.
- Excellent written and graphic communication skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS and/or Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Undergraduate or graduate student; majors or concentrations in urban planning, transportation, marketing, communications, or related fields are a plus.
Availability
Availability to start on Tuesday January 6th, 2025 is preferred. This is a hybrid position which requires a commitment of up to 22.5 hours per week.
Compensation
$19 per hour for interns currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree. $22 per hour for candidates currently pursuing a Master’s degree. Students with Work-Study funding are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Education and Training
Must have completed at least ONE YEAR of a college/university program or be enrolled in a master's, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
