Freight and Aviation

Freight and aviation planning are critical to Greater Philadelphia's position within the global economy. DVRPC's planning program focuses on promoting cooperation among stakeholders, implementing a regional goods movement strategy, and encouraging the preservation and improvement of aviation facilities.

Freight

The region's economic competitiveness is closely tied to its freight network. Freight shipments continue to grow across all modes. Planning for freight also helps promote quality of life, safety, environmental sustainability, and land use goals.

Aviation

Regional aviation systems planning is an important effort designed to support the region's networks of airports and heliports and regional air travel. DVRPC also undertakes an aircraft counting program at non-towered aircraft operations in a 12-county area as defined by the Federal Aviation Administration.
