PRESENTATION ITEMS

7. 1980 - 2005 Travel Trends in the Philadelphia Central Business District (CBD)

Staff will present a report which analyzes the results of DVRPC's latest travel survey for the Philadelphia CBD. This survey assesses highway and public transportation travel trends crossing into the CBD and compares the volume with those collected in 1980 and 2000.

8. 2000 & 2005 Motorized and Non-motorized Trip

Generation Staff will present trip generation results from the 2000 and 2005 travel simulation models. This includes person, transit, truck, taxi, internal, as well as external trips. The generation of non-motorized trips and trips from group quarters, new in the 2000 model, will be covered. Results will be compared against survey data.

9. Bicycling in the Delaware Valley in 2005: Use, Safety and Demographics

In order to better inform and evaluate the effects of transportation policy and capital investment on bicycle usage, staff conducted in 2005 the region's first-ever metropolitan bicycle travel survey, the most comprehensive look at bicycling ever conducted in the region and possibly the largest of its kind ever conducted in North America. Trip and user data were collected through roadside interviews and distribution of mail-back questionnaires to intercepted bicyclists. Unique to this survey, data was collected on crash experience during the 12 months preceding the survey. A report on the survey results was released in December. Staff will describe the survey design and procedures and discuss the survey's principal findings.

INFORMATION ITEMS

10. Transportation Systems Management and Operations

DVRPC, with assistance from PennDOT and NJDOT, initiated a project that examined Transportation Systems Management and Operations for two transportation corridors in the region. As a follow-up to the October 2007 RTC presentation, staff will present findings from the Pennsylvania corridor.
